Jewellery Care Guide
All my pieces are made with longevity in mind, and will last a lifetime (hopefully beyond!) with proper care.
Sterling silver will naturally tarnish with time when exposed to air - this is completely normal, and your piece will be easily polished up again with a soft microfiber cloth. Lower gold carats, especially 9ct, are also prone to tarnishing, due to their higher content of alloys versus pure gold. Like silver, this is normal, and it can be polished up again with a soft microfiber cloth.
If you find that your gemstones are looking dull, you can soak your piece in a small bowl of lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap, leave it for a few minutes, and then using a soft toothbrush, such as a baby toothbrush, gently scrub underneath the setting. Leave to air dry and then polish with a microfiber cloth. Do not use this method for pieces with porous materials, such as pearls, opals, or emeralds.
It is recommended to remove rings when doing activities where damage or loss can occur. This includes, but is not limited to: exercising, cleaning, dish-washing, gardening, and any activity that will put a lot of weight or pressure onto the piece (carrying heavy objects, moving furniture, rock-climbing, etc). Showering with your pieces is also not recommended because the build-up of soaps and other cosmetics can dull your piece in the long run, and will tarnish silver and lower carat golds. Swimming is also not recommended, as chlorine and other chemicals in pools can damage the materials in your piece, and cold water can make your fingers shrink, making it easier to loose a ring. It is generally best to avoid contact with cosmetics, moisturisers, oils, sprays, perfumes, and chemicals. I would also suggest taking off higher set rings when sleeping, to avoid any accidental damage to the setting.
When you are not wearing your jewellery, store it somewhere dry and out of direct sunlight, wrapped safely. The microfiber pouch you will receive with your order is perfect to store your piece.
Jewellery is made to be worn and enjoyed, and signs of natural wear will create a gorgeous patina over time. However, I do offer a cleaning and reconditioning service should you desire it. Please get in touch for a quote per piece.
